It's June 14th, 2025 and I feel Louisvillian
America may have forgotten about Breonna Taylor. America may have never even heard the name David McAtee. But Louisville hasn't forgotten. It’s been five years now. Since the murders. A span of time that for Louisville activists has felt like several millennia ago, just yesterday, and still happening. You could argue that we are scarred by the LMPD. But Louisville is not scarred by racism and police brutality. Louisville has an open festering wound and as long as those to blame remain blameless, it will be here rotting and ignored. “Scarred” would be a privilege. This is violently clear to me today. June 14th, 2025. “No Kings” protests are taking place in over 2000 cities across America. It’s almost Juneteenth, It's Pride month, It’s flag day, it’s a dictator's birthday, it’s the day of a 45 million dollar fascist military parade, AKA a direct threat disguised as celebration.
